Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester residents may have felt the rumblings of a 3.6 magnitude earthquake on Sunday morning that occurred in the waters off Dartmouth at 9:10 a.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The survey recorded a 15.1 km depth for the quake, which was felt in parts of Cape Cod, Long Island, Connecticut, Northern Massachusetts and New Hampshire

According to the survey website, moderately damaging earthquakes strike somewhere in New England every few decades, and smaller earthquakes are felt roughly twice a year.
