Seven new covid cases were reported at between Sippican School, Rochester Memorial School and the Old Rochester Regional School High School on Jan. 8, bringing the district total to 112 since its reopening in mid-September. 

Five of the reported cases were found in ORRHS, with two at Rochester Memorial and one at Sippican School. 

All schools will continue operating as normal following the cases. 

The 112-case total in the district reflects all cases which have been reported since the school year began, not active cases in the district. 

The positive individuals in the ORRHS cases were last in school district buildings on Dec. 18, 22 and 23. The positive individuals from Rochester Memorial and Sippican School were last in school on Jan. 5 and 6, respectively.

It is unclear whether the positive individuals are students, faculty or staff. 

Given that the ORRHS individuals were last in school prior to the district’s holiday vacation, it is likely that those cases were spread in the community and not within the schools.
