MATTAPOISETT — The Mattapoisett Democratic Town Committee is hosting a Candidates’ Night on Wednesday, May 7 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Mattapoisett Free Public Library public meeting room.

All candidates for the Tuesday, May 20 Mattapoisett Election are invited to the event and will have the opportunity to share a statement and answer questions from the audience.

Uncontested race candidates will speak first, followed by the contested race candidates for the Board of Health and the Old Rochester Regional School Committee.

Candidates Nina Datshovsky-Ennis and Betsy Stewart are running for one seat on the Old Rochester School Committee. The seat is vacant after School Committee member Rosemary Bowman chose not to run for reelection.

The contested Board of Health race features two candidates running for one seat, incumbent Michele Bernier and newcomer N. Douglas Schneider.

Participants are encouraged to bring questions for the candidates.

Mattapoisett Election voting will take place at the Old Hammondtown School from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20. The final day to register to vote for this election is Friday, May 9.
