Electricity aggregation plan results in 'dynamic rate'
An energy aggregation plan has proved “extremely favorable," says Town Administrator Mike Gagne.
Mattapoisett joined in with other towns across the state to bid for a lower electricity rate, and got it. The rate will be $.09 per kilowatt-hour for a fixed 24 months, not including delivery costs.
“It pays to buy in bulk,” said Gagne.
“It’s a dynamic rate,” added Selectman Tyler Macallister.
Residents can opt out of the plan, though Selectmen said electricity prices are expected to rise again Jan. 1.
Gagne said the aggregation is the largest in the state and the third largest power aggregation for municipalities in the U.S.
Electricity customers will receive a mailing from the town soon with more information about the plan, and a video is in the works that will explain it.
