Elizabeth Taber sculpture being cast

Jun 17, 2020

After almost two years of creative sculpting in his New Bedford Studio, Erik Durant has delivered Elizabeth Sprague Pitcher Taber to the foundry in Maine where she will be cast in bronze. She will then be placed on her chosen site in Marion opposite the Town House and the library which bears her name.

Taber designed and supervised construction of numerous buildings in Marion, including the Music Hall and the original building for Tabor Academy.

There is a tentative plan to have an Unveiling Ceremony on Taber’s 229th birthday, on Aug. 22 at noon for townspeople.
