Ensemble Events: Moonlighting in a big way
By day, Chuck and Casey Viera pursue their professional careers in New Bedford. Chuck is a social worker, Casey an attorney. In the evening, they return to their Marion home and young sons Alden and Carter . . . and get to work on their other business: Ensemble Events.
"I've had one day off since May," Chuck joked on Sunday while staffing the Ensemble Events photo booth at Marion Market Place's Family Block Party.
The event entertainment company had its origins in Chuck's previous six years of part-time work as a DJ at events. Last January, the operation expanded to include event photography, videography, custom lighting, the photo booth, and more.
The photo booth, which arrives with a supply of campy accessories in which guests can dress themselves before having a strip of photos shot in the booth, "takes that show" at every event at which it appears, Chuck said.
Thus far, most of the company's events have been weddings, he said -- "every weekend, May to October." But the family is looking to branch out to all manner of events.
Ensemble is definitely a family business. On Sunday, Casey was welcoming visitors to the booth and explaining the procedure. Alden and Carter were busy handing out business cards.
