MATTAPOISETT — From now until the end of Harbor Days on Sunday, July 20 enter an auction for the chance to win a painting created by the late local artist Priscilla Alden Hathaway.

The painting, titled “Mattapoisett Quahogs” is an original undated watercolor that measures 12 ½ inches by 19 ¼ inches that was recently donated the Friends of the Mattaposiett Rail Trail.

Proceeds from the auction will go toward completing the Mattapoisett Rail Trail.

To enter the drawing, donate $20 or more from now until the end of Harbor Days on Sunday, July 20. For more information on how to donate, visit mattapoisettrailtrail.org/donate.

To donate in person and view the painting, visit the Friends of the Rail Trail table at Shipyard Park during Harbor Days on Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20.

The drawing will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 20, and the winner will be contacted by email or phone and must pick the painting up no later than Aug. 23.

Hathaway was a professional artist, art teacher, environmentalist and volunteer who was a long-time resident of Mattapoisett, a member of the Historical Society and the Woman’s Club and a co-founder of the Mattapoisett Land Trust.
