An opening reception for the festival of trees will be held 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27 at the Benjamin D. Cushing Community Center. 

Organizations, businesses, community groups and interested individuals may decorate or sponsor a tree for this year’s festival, which will run Nov. 27 to Dec. 11.

Five-foot, pre-lit trees will be made available to participants. Raffle tickets will be sold for a chance to win a decorated tree. Winners will be drawn at noon Friday, Dec. 10.

The opening reception will feature an artisan sale, music, refreshments and basket raffles.

Deadline to register for tree sponsorship is Nov. 15. Baskets may be donated until 3 p.m. Nov. 23.

The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Marion Council on Aging to benefit the Parks Project at the community center.
