Firefighters climb Gillette stairs to help veterans

Nov 22, 2021

The Patriots were not playing at Gillette Stadium Sunday, Nov. 21, but the stands were filled with champions.

Five Mattapoisett firefighters were among the participants who climbed the stadium stairs to help support housing for veterans during the seventh Stairs 4R Troops fund-raiser.

Making the climb were Captain Justin Dubois, Lieutenant Brian Connelly and Firefighters Silas Costa, Billy Oliver and Eric Pimentel.

They climbed more than 5,000 steps in full structural gear to support Homes for our Troops.

The Taunton-based Homes for Our Troops has built 316 homes in 42 states for veterans who have been severely injured from post 9/11 wars and conflicts.

From the previous six stair-climbing events, participants raised $244,000 for Homes For Our Troops.
