MARION — With the summer heating up and Independence Day quickly approaching, Silvershell beach will soon be awash in reds, whites and blues of the town’s annual firework display on Saturday, July 6.

The show typically starts around dusk, according to Marion Executive Assistant Donna Hemphill. This year’s fireworks will start at 9 p.m.

“We thank the hard work of the fireworks committee for fundraising for the event,” said Hemphill.

Parking will be available at Silvershell Beach and along roads in Marion Village. According to the Marion Police Department, residents living in Marion Village should ask their guests to arrive no later than 7 p.m. If parking west of Front Street, guests should park facing Converse Road; If parking east of Front Street, guests should park facing Water Street. Anyone parking on Vine Street should face toward Front Street.

No Parking will be allowed on the south side of Lewis Street between Front Street and Converse Road, according to the Marion Police Department.
