Fireworks short of funding goal, community support sought
MARION — The Marion Fireworks Committee is $45,000 short of the money needed to return fireworks to town and is reaching out to the community to meet the funding goal.
The fireworks cost $65,000, and about $20,000 has been raised so far, committee members report.
The total amount must be raised by early April to meet the deadline to go out to bid to secure fireworks.
Committee co-chair Cameron Van der Veer has said returning the fireworks to town after a two-year absence would help bring the community together after a long stretch of distance.
“Everyone’s been isolated. We need to have more people hanging out. I think a lot of people are looking for that kind of thing.’’
Donations can be made out to the Town of Marion and mailed to Marion Town House, Fireworks Committee, 2 Spring St., Marion MA, 02738.
