Food for Tots fundraiser kicks off again

Apr 11, 2019

Just months after the Food for Tots campaign presented a check with its earnings to Southcoast Hospitals, Mattapoisett resident Jill Fearons is at it again, kicking off another iteration of Food for Tots which will continue into the fall.

Mattapoisett restaurant, On the Go, will once again be helping out with the Friends of Jack Foundation Food for Tots this year. Every Tuesday until the end of the campaign in September, On the Go will donate 15 percent of their profits to the Friends of Jack Foundation.

Food for Tots also has the community dine at select restaurants across the South Coast once a month. 15 percent of the proceeds raised at the chosen restaurants will go to the Friends of Jack Foundation, which provides healthcare-focused services and programs for children in the greater SouthCoast region.

With the money raised for Food for Tots, the Friends of Jack Foundation supplies teddy bears to sick or injured children in the St. Luke’s Hospital emergency room and inpatient unit in New Bedford, and at the Boston Children’s Hospital satellite office in North Dartmouth.

It also organizes a superhero program that provides capes and masks to medical facilities, as well as police, fire and EMS departments in the area. Townsquare Media, which runs Fun 107 and 1420 WBSM, also helps to promote the fundraiser.

The annual campaign will start in Fairhaven on April 18. On July 18, the campaign will be held in the Tri-town and Wareham. The list of participating tri-town restaurants has not yet been released.
