Foundation of new harbormaster building in place
MARION — The Marion harbormaster building, currently undergoing construction, continues to take shape as framing of the structure is expected to take place later in March.
Construction of the pillars of the building has been completed and installation of beams has begun, Marion Town Administrator Geoff Gorman said at a March 19 Select Board meeting.
The building is expected to be “weather tight” in April, Gorman said during an update on the project’s progress.
“The neat thing about the Harbormaster building, all you got to do is go out there and take a look and you can get your own update,” said Gorman.
In November, the town selected Marion-based South Coast Improvement Company as the project’s contractor.
In a Facebook post on March 19, South Coast Improvement said that the team working on the harbormaster building has completed the “foundation concrete footings and piers” and has been making “great progress” with underground utilities during construction.
