Fun for all ages at the Super Duper Summer Fair
The community came out in droves for the First Congregational Church of Marion's annual Super Duper Summer Fair on Saturday.
The fair, which had a portion of Main Street shut down, featured lobster rolls, cotton candy, a silent auction, a white elephant sale and various tables of donated goods.
Everything sold at the fair, from plants to books to a rowboat, was donated to the church, and all the money earned goes to support and fund the church.
The white elephant sale in the basement of the church, likened to a giant garage sale by volunteers, had about 15 tables full of donated items.
Yvonne Jackson, a volunteer who helped set up and organize the sale, said the white elephant sale continues to grow year after year.
“It keeps getting bigger,” she said. “We started working on Thursday and couldn't finish and had to come back yesterday to set up.”
There were so many donated items, Jackson said, that there will likely be a rummage sale in mid-August to sell what is left over.
The silent auction also had a handful tables covered in donated items, ranging from paintings to baseball tickets to gift cards for local businesses.
On Main Street, there was an inflatable bouncy house, a dunk tank, a bean bag toss, crafts and mini putt for kids.
