Gateway Babe Ruth announces new baseball teams
Gateway Babe Ruth will provide more opportunity to play baseball with the launch of new Amateur Athletic Union Club teams.
These teams will be for players who are 11, 12, 13 and 14 years old. To join a team, players must be a member of local little league or Gateway Babe Ruth League teams.
Organizers said the teams will be a low-cost alternative to other Amateur Athletic Union teams.
Tryouts for these teams will be held in late August and early September. There is no tryout fee, and the players selected may attend Gateway Babe Ruth winter workouts, which will prepare them for the regular season.
Teams with 11 and 12 year olds will play on a midsize field to get them acclimated to the larger field that they will compete on as 13 year olds.
Organizers said their goal is to have a program to develop players ready to join Babe Ruth, school and American Legion teams.
Head coaches and assistant coaches for the new teams are being sought. Those interested may complete a registration form found online at: www.gatewaybaberuth.com.
