Girl Scouts’ cookie sale supported by first responders, DA
On Sunday morning, Marion Police and Fire and the Plymouth County District Attorney turned their attention to a non-emergency but nonetheless important matter: Helping Girl Scouts sell some of their signature cookies.
“We like to help out,” said Fire Lt. Mike Still, who said Thin Mints are his favorite Girl Scout cookie. Fellow firefighter Patrick Owen said that while the decision was tough, he liked Caramel Delites the best.
“We’re just happy to come out and support the Girl Scouts and help them meet their fundraising goals,” said Police Chief Richard Nighelli.
“It’s all about girls’ leadership and empowerment and learning a little about the business world,” said District Attorney Timothy Cruz, who favors the peanut butter sandwich cookies. He noted that the girls were savvy salespeople.
Despite the chilly weather, the girls said the sale had gone well so far. They’d been able to catch drivers’ attention with some dance moves in their cookie costumes.
Vivi said her favorite Girl Scout activity has been glamping, while Olivia loved archery. Another Scout, Kali, said she liked archery best.
Marion Troop 67047’s next cookie sale will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 27, at Uncle Jon’s in Marion.
