Girls lacrosse off to a winning season
Three games in, the Old Rochester Regional girls varsity lacrosse team is undefeated.
On Thursday, the Lady Bulldogs defeated Sturgis West Charter School 15-5. Junior Baily Truesdale scored five goals and had three assists. Junior Mikayla Demanche secured three goals for the team with two assists. Senior Ali Grace made three goals with one assist.
The relatively new team has had some tough losses in the past but is looking to make a name for itself this year.
In the first game of the year on April 1, the team defeated Silver Lake High School 16-8. Eight different girls scored, lead by captains Truesdale and Demanche. The girls pulled ahead in the second half of the game.
April 4 was the team’s home opener against chief rival Fairhaven High School.
“We won 8-5, and it was the first time in school history we beat Fairhaven in girls lacrosse,” said Coach Chris Tresca. “The game was a hard fought defensive victory that was tied 3-3 at half, and again we pulled away in the second half.”
Friday the team goes in for its fourth consecutive win against Bourne High School.
