Gladiator hockey continues to win

The Gateway Gladiator youth hockey program continues to win, with the teams going a collective 5-1 this past weekend.

The Gateway Squirts improved to 15-0 this weekend, after beating both Walpole and Plymouth. On Saturday, the squirts beat Walpole Express 7-2 on Saturday, with Kevin Place, Tommy Clavell, Ben Hebbel, Brayden Cannon and Patrick Duggan all scoring. Hebbel scored twice in the second period and once in the third period to complete a hat trick. On Sunday, the Gladiators beat Plymouth Green 5-0. Clavell scored four goals and and Cannon scored one. Goaltender Ryan Killion stopped all 19 shots for a shutout.

The Pee Wees went 1-1 over the weekend. The team beat the Southeast Cyclones on Saturday, 5-2. Matthew Paling, Lucy Murphy and Connor MacLeod each scored once, and Ty Rebeiro scored twice. On Sunday, the Gladiators lost to Hanover, 3-1. The team’s only goal was scored by Nathan Ribeiro.

The Bantam team beat the Taunton Brewins 7-0 on Saturday. Will Goldman, Livia Fryer, Tyler Lovendale, Zachary Barris and Jack Martins all scored once, and Robert Maloney scored twice. Alex DeMarco made nine saves for a shutout.

The Midgets also won this weekend, beating Brockton 4-0 on Sunday. Peter Pimental and Jared Westgate each scored once and Lovendale added two goals. Steven Strachan and Alex DeMarco split time in net, each earning a shutout.
