MARION – The Elizabeth Taber Library is finishing up summer reading and looking at a full slate of library events for September.

Adult art workshops with Jeanine Cappuccino will happen twice monthly. This is a new program offering with the library. The next free instructional art class is on Saturday, Aug. 27 from 10a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Attendees will learn one and two point perspective, then apply techniques to landscape sketching of various Marion Landmarks. The class involved a short walk around Marion.

To celebrate the end of summer reading, join the library for an ice cream social on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cool off and celebrate the end of summer with ice cream, lawn games, and sidewalk chalk. This is sponsored by Kool Kone.

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to write your own obituary, sign up for a free writing workshop with Judith Rosbe. The workshop will span four weeks on Sept. 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Call or stop by to sign up for this workshop.

The library will host glass artist Kim Savoie on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 11 a.m. for a glass blowing demonstration. Learn the art, history, and science of glass making and see a flameworking demonstration on the library lawn.

The next installment of the True Crime Book Club hosted by Jay Pateakos will be on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m. The club will be discussing “American Predator: The Hunt for the Most Meticulous Serial Killer of the 21st Century” by Maureen Callahan.
