Golden finishes at 50th Mattapoisett Road Race

MATTAPOISETT — The Mattapoisett Road Race celebrated its 50th running with some golden times.
The five-mile event, which wove its way through Mattapoisett, ended with the overall race record approached and the women’s record shattered.
Trevor Wysong, 24, ended the race in a familiar post: First place. He has won the race the last few years.
His time was 25:18, just seconds behind the race record of 25:02, which is held by Bob Winn.
Mattapoisett’s Margot Appleton, 19, shattered the women’s record by nearly a minute as she crossed the finish line at 28:37, besting the previous record of 29:32 held by Jennifer DeRego.
