Harbor Days kicks off with triathlon July 12
The Mattapoisett Lions Club will again host its popular week-long festival, Harbor Days, beginning Sunday, July 12 with the triathlon and culminating on July 19 with a pancake breakfast, live entertainment and a raffle drawing.
Sign-in for the triathlon begins at 7 a.m. on Sunday at Town Beach and the competition begins at 8 a.m. T-shirts are guaranteed to the first 150 entrants. The event is open to individuals or teams. Entry fees are $90 for individuals and $125 for teams.
The race is a .25 mile swim, 10 mile bike ride and 3.4 mile run.
On Wednesday, July 15 (rain or shine), the Lions Club will sell homemade strawberry shortcake at the town band concert at Shipyard Park.
During the weekend of July 17 to 19, more than 100 crafters and artisans set up in Shipyard Park (rain or shine) and are open Saturday, July 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, July 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m..
Food is a big part of Harbor Days. On Friday, July 15 a fish fry dinner will be held at Shipyard Park catered by Hollywood Scoop, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The Dave Charnley Band will provide live entertainment.
Lobsterfest will be Saturday, July 18 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with the Harpoon Harmonizers singing their melodic tunes. The next morning, pancakes and sausage will be served from July 19 from 8 to 11 a.m.
Luncheon foods will be available under the tent both Saturday and Sunday, and strawberry shortcake will be available all weekend.
Harbor Days has been the major fundraising event for the Mattapoisett Lions Club for more than 30 years. Proceeds from this event allow the club to support Lions Club sponsored charities and to assist those in need within the community. For more information, visit www.mattapoisettlionsclub.org.
