Harbor Days planning in full swing
MATTAPOISETT — The Mattapoisett Lions Club has started preparations for the week of community dinners, vendors and other family fun that the Mattapoisett community has long loved. A preliminary schedule of the annual Harbor Days festival weekend has been announced.
Lynne Foley, the president of the Mattapoisett Lions Club, and Lions Club member Mike Rosa shared a preliminary outline of the schedule for the 2024 edition of Harbor Days at a Mattapoisett Select Board meeting on Tuesday, March 26.
Each July, the Mattapoisett community convenes at Shipyard Park for days of food and fun for Mattapoisett Lions Club’s annual Harbor Days.
On Tuesday, July 16, the celebration will kick off with the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club’s annual “Taste of the Town" event, at which food from several restaurants in Mattapoisett will be served.
Attendees should make sure to save room for the rest of the week. On Wednesday, July 16, the Mattapoisett Lions Club will sell strawberry shortcake, Foley said.
Then, “Painting in the Park” will provide an opportunity for the community to show off their artistic abilities. That event will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 18.
A fan favorite, the fish fry will be held on the night of Friday, July 19.
Vendors will then set up shop in the park for the weekend.
On Saturday, July 20, a lobster dinner will be served. The Mattapoisett Council on Aging has also scheduled a band to perform in Shipyard Park, according to Rosa.
The Harbor Days will conclude on Monday, July 21, with a pancake breakfast and full day of shopping and fun.
