Hay rides, pumpkin noses at Family Fun Festival

Nov 6, 2018

MATTAPOISETT — Attendees at this year’s Family Fun Festival engaged in some essential fall activities, taking hayrides and drinking apple cider, but also tried their hand at pumpkin bowling and pin the nose on the pumpkin.

After being pushed back due to inclement weather, the annual festival put on by the Mattapoisett Lions Club finally got the weather to cooperate on Sunday. With better weather, the club saw over 600 people attend their event and enjoy the festivities.

“Three years ago, when I was President of the Mattapoisett Lions Club, I started the Family Fun Festival,” said Kimberly Ray. “I wanted to have an event that was totally free, so families could come out and enjoy a nice fall afternoon.”

A long line formed in front of the pick-up point for the hayrides, which were clearly the most popular attraction on the day.

Also at the event was a spin on the party game “Pin the Tail on the Donkey.” Only on Sunday it was pinning a nose on a pumpkin. Miss New Bedford Teen, Tori Kalisz, attended and assisted with the unique activity. There was also a coloring station, corn hole toss and pumpkin bowling for guests to enjoy.

On top of that, there was music which greeted the ears of event-goers and food available to fill their bellies.
