With the holidays now in full-swing, there are plenty of festive events to enjoy for those looking to make the most out of the season. 

Saturday, Dec. 8

Mattapoisett Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair

Saturday Dec. 8 is a busy day for holiday events in the tri-town. From 1 to 4 p.m. at the Mattapoisett Historical Society pick up some locally made holiday gifts from among notecards, soaps, woolens, photographs, jewelry, wrought iron and other items.

Mattapoisett holiday church fair

The Mattapoisett Congregational Church’s annual Holiday Fair will be held from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Park the car and get all your holiday shopping done in one day. Santa is expected later in the day, as well.

Marion Luncheon and Cookie Walk

The First Congregational Church invites resident for lunch at their community center at 11:30 a.m., and for a sweet stroll after.  If the lunch doesn’t satisfy your sweet tooth, take a stroll down the cookie walk and fill a box with a dozen cookies for $10.

Marion House Tour

If you’re interested in something extra festive, grab tickets for the Holiday House Tour and tour Marion from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants should meet at the Coldwell Banker at the start of the tour for passes. (See Page 13 for more).

A Holiday stroll in the park

The 13th annual Holiday in the Park and stroll in Mattapoisett kicks of this year at the Mattapoisett Congregational Church from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

All of the fun and festivities conclude at Shipyard Park from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Santa and Mrs. Claus with be traveling through town by fire truck.

Holiday Boutique

If you’re feeling festive and want to decorate your home, stop by the Music Hall from 9 a.m. to noon for the Marion Garden Group’s holiday boutique, where they will be selling a wide variety of greens.

Sunday, Dec. 9

Marion Holiday Stroll

The Marion Stroll will take place from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The stroll features the historic main street’s of Marion and Santa’s arrival by boat, wagon rides, and many treats from local merchants. The annual tree lighting will commence at 5:30 in Bicentennial Park.

Thursday, Dec. 13

Make a Candy Lighthouse

Move over gingerbread houses! The Mattapoisett Library will be allowing children to build a candy lighthouse starting at 3:30 this year.

Cookie Swap at the library

Join the Elizabeth Taber Library for the Annual Cookie Swap at 4 p.m. Event organizers ask participants to bring a dozen or so cookies, and promise coffee, good company and the chance to sample a few cookies.

Friday, Dec. 14

Inside the Pages of “The Nutcracker”

The Mattapoisett library will host its second holiday event for children at 3:30, bringing in dance instructor Kay Alden to let workshop participants dance to “The Nutcracker” instead of just watching.

Gift Wrapping at Elizabeth Taber Library

From 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., the Elizabeth Taber Library will also hold holiday gift wrapping sessions to help patrons prepare for the holidays.

Annual Holiday Luncheon and Party

Looking for a festive way to fill you belly? The Rochester Council on Aging will host its annual holiday party, with a complimentary meal at noon. Sign up in by calling 508-763-8723.

Saturday, Dec. 15

The Occasion Singers Holiday Concert

Midway through the month the First Congregational Church of Marion will host a holiday concert by the Occasion Singers at 7 p.m.

Guests must purchase tickets for the concert, but tickets will include appetizers, wine, and the chance to sing along with the group.

Sunday, Dec. 16

Lessons & Carols

The next night will feature another 7 p.m. concert, this one from the Tabor Academy Choristers at Wickenden Chapel.
