The Old Rochester Regional High School community is mourning the loss of a special friend. 

The football team recently shared a sad message on Instagram: Madaket, the school’s honorary bulldog mascot, has passed away unexpectedly.  

“It is with a heavy heart to say we lost a very special member of the Old Rochester community. Madaket was OUR school mascot! You could catch her at all events ORR! She was a sweet loving girl who was lucky to have our Field Hockey coach, Coach [Lauren] O’Brien, as her mom. We will miss seeing her around the campus wearing our colors with pride,” the post read. 

The love the community felt for Madaket was mutual, according to the social media posts. 

“She loved the team, the bus and hanging in the football end zone,’’ school community members wrote on Twitter.
