May 29, 2024

ROCHESTER — As much of Rochester took part in the town’s annual Memorial Day Boat Race, a fire broke out at a residence on High Street, prompting fire departments from multiple municipalities to respond.

The Wareham Fire Department was the first to arrive at the blaze, a response that “knocked down the heavy exterior fire” and “put a quick stop to a rapidly progressing fire,” according to the Rochester Fire Department.

The Rochester and Marion fire departments also arrived to treat the fire, which was called in at 10:18 a.m. Monday, May 27 and under control by 10:45 a.m., according to the Rochester Fire Department.

An individual “who attempted to put the fire out” was evaluated but did not require medical transport, the Rochester Fire Department said.
