Hush! Silent Book Club returns to Mattapoisett Library
Event Date:
MATTAPOISETT — Pipe down and head to the Mattapoisett Public Library to enjoy some quiet reading time at the Silent Book Club meeting on Thursday, May 1 at 2 p.m. in the upstairs reading rooms.
The event is returning after a year-long hiatus. The first Silent Book Club meeting in 2024 was “well-received,” according to librarian Susan Pizzolato.
“It was full registered, and everyone who attended said they enjoyed it very much,” she said.
Pizzolato said the club was suggested by a member of the Mattapoisett Library Trust who saw literary enthusiasts around the world participating in silent reading events.
“We are joining a cadre of people who love reading and just want to be in the same place, reading a book of their own choosing [after] quietly saying hello. No distractions, no laundry calling, no lawn to mow, just a comfortable place where reading in encouraged,” she said.
Tea and treats will be provided for participants at the event.
Register by calling the library circulation desk at 508-758-4171. This session will be limited to 20 readers and is recommended for ages 16 and older.
