Hydrant flushing ongoing in Marion
MARION — The Marion Water Division will continue its hydrant flushing program through Wednesday, June 15.
Hydrant flushing moves water systematically through sections of the drinking water distribution system, creating a scouring action to clean the water main.
The increased flow rate scours the water main’s inner walls and helps to remove any build-up of naturally occurring debris and sediment. The water is discharged through fire hydrants onto local roads or other surface areas.
Flushing will occur between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. The sequence and completion of the hydrant flushing program is subject to change due to weather, staff availability, required hydrant flushing time, and water distribution needs.
Completed areas include: Point Road, County Road to Route 6; and Rivers Edge and River Road.
Work is ongoing on Wareham Street, including side streets; Front Street, Route 6 to Silvershell Beach including all center areas; Mill Street from Sippican Healthcare to Rocky Knook including side streets; Converse Road from Route 6 to Olde Knoll Road; Converse Road from Olde Knoll Road to Converse Point including side streets; Point Road from Route 6 to lower Delano Road; Delano Road, from Route 6 to lower Point Road and all side streets; Point Road from lower Delano Road to Kittansett Point including Piney Point and Planting Island.
