Wareham American Legion Post No. 220 baseball is getting a farm team.

Gateway Babe Ruth has announced that it will launch a new Junior American Legion team for players 13 to 16 years old.

Evaluations for the new team will take place in September with a date to be announced. All Gateway Babe Ruth players will have the first chance to try out for the team.

Junior Legion games will start in mid-June and will only interfere with the end of the Gateway Babe Ruth season. The team will have a large roster to accommodate scheduling conflicts with Babe Ruth.

Organizers said this will be a highly competitive team to prepare players for American Legion and Wareham High School baseball.

Gateway Babe Ruth is seeking a head coach for the new team. Application forms are available online at: www.gatewaybaberuth.com. Tryout registrations for players are also available on the website.
