Land trust to host wetland walk
MATTAPOISETT — Join the Mattapoisett Land Trust’s Education Committee on Saturday Sept. 30 at 10:30 a.m. for a Wetland Discovery Program hosted by Carlos T.B. Fragata, an environmental analyst for the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection.
The program will begin at the Mattapoisett Public Library community meeting room. Participants can learn about the animals that frequent wetlands and ponds, what they are and the sounds they make, and how they grow and live together.
Following the presentation, around 11:15 a.m., participants can drive to Grace Pond to meet Fragata for about 30 minutes of hands-on exploration if weather permits.
This program is designed for adults and families. Grace Pond is accessed from the Mattapoisett Land Trust kiosk on Bowman Road. For the Grace Pond portion of the program, the trust suggests that participants wear rubber boots, bring binoculars, a net, drinks and bug spray.
