I was reading how the Board of Health is trying to convince the Elizabeth Taber statue committee to get rid of her pipe, stating that it’ll be a bad influence on the young, who might think it’s okay to smoke.

The town, state and nation have gone too politically correct with history issues. The facts of history should be true.

As a child I utilized the Taber Library and as an adult the Town Hall and Music Hall as a VFW members’ meeting hall from after World War II to 1994.

In discussing the pipe issues with members of the Point Road area that also utilized the library and are still residents of Marion, we would like the pipe to stay.
