Library, Council on Aging won't enter into Town House construction
Selectmen were asked to consider expanding the scope of the Town House Building Committee to incorporate discussions on a space for the Council on Aging and more room for the library.
The committee of seven residents was created earlier this year to discuss options for the failing building, and Selectmen agreed that it’s duties should not be expanded to include the other two issues.
“The town house is a significant amount of effort. I think it will muddy the waters with these other important things,” Chair Jon Henry said on Tuesday evening. “I just think that it’s overkill to roll all of those buildings into that.”
Selectmen Jody Dickerson and Steve Cushing agreed.
“It gives the appearance of making a Taj Mahal instead of making a nice office building,” said Henry.
