Lifeguards on duty at Silvershell Beach

MARION — Silvershell Beach, located at the end of Front Street in Marion, has officially opened for the 2019 season. Lifeguards will be on duty seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until the end of August.

This year Eli Spevack, EMT, and Mason DaSilva are the head lifeguards. Patrick Cummings, Stephen and John Delehanty, Lea and Marc Bourgeois, Chelsey Peterson, Mac Fox, and Michaela Mattson will also be on duty throughout the summer.

The beach is open to Marion and Rochester residents with a privilege sticker. Stickers can be bought at town hall offices. In Marion, privilege stickers can be bought at the harbormaster’s office in Marion Town Hall. Stickers cost $10 a year for Marion residents, and $20 a year for Rochester residents.

Marion residents may also buy a guest pass for non-residents at Marion Town Hall. Guest passes cost $35 a year, and are limited to one pass per household. 

Day passes for non-residents are also available for $10 per day. According to Marion Director of Recreation Jody Dickerson, a maximum of ten passes are available for sale on a given day, but fewer passes will be available on days when more residents are expected to visit the beach.
