The Marion Art Center to close, but create virtual gallery

Mar 18, 2020

MARION — The Marion Art Center will be closed for at least three weeks, following the ORR school schedule as a coronavirus prevention measure. The organization made the announcement in a letter dated March 17.

All classes, events, and programs have been postponed until further notice. The art center will extend its current exhibition, “Thor's Hammer,” until a future date not yet determined, and  hopes to bring “The Fox on the Fairway,” to the stage in late May or early June.

The Marion Art Center Dance Academy and Children's Art Lab have been postponed, and all adult programs will be rescheduled for later dates.

The Marion Art Center recognizes that social distancing has given many creators more time to pursue their passions, and for many the uncertainty they feel may be reflected in art. Though the physical art center cannot be open, the Marion Art Center will move to a virtual gallery on its new website.

The arts organization is calling for submissions to populate this virtual gallery. Participants should submit all entries (high resolution photos or videos when possible) via email with the subject line "Living Uncertainty" to marionartcenter@verizon.net. Artists should include a brief description about the artwork(s) when applicable. Email or call the MAC at 508-748-1266 with any questions.
