Marion Art Center offers Fall classes
The following classes will be offered at the Marion Art Center in the Fall:
Dance Academy: Starting weeks of September 12 – week of December 19. Preschool (ages 3 & 4) meets Mondays, 4:30 – 5:00 p.m. and will include introduction to ballet & Kinderstep (age 5) meets Mondays, 5:00 – 5:45.
Beginners (ages 6-7) meet Mondays, 5:45 – 6:30 p.m. and will explore barre work, positions and more ballet and tap. Intermediate (age 8+) will meet on Wednesdays, 5:30 – 6:15 p.m. Hip-Hop I (age 6+) will meet on Wednesdays, 4:30 to 5 p.m.
Hip-Hop II (age 10+) will meet on Wednesdays, 6:15-6:45 p.m.
Gymnastics (age 6+) will meet on Wednesdays from 5:00 – 5:30. Both Hip-Hop and Gymnastics can be added to any of the other classes as an add-on for an extra $85. Teah Mazzoni Johnson is the instructor and begins her fifth year at the art center as choreographer and head of the Dance Academy. Tuition is $135/$150 for preschool, $150/$165 for Kinderstep and Beginners.

Little People's Theater: This class for ages 5 - 9 meets on Tuesdays, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Session I is September 6 to October 11. Session II is October 18 – November 29. Each week the children will learn basic theater craft through drama games, readers’ theater and experience the fun of the stage while rehearsing for a small production to be performed the last week of each session. Nancy Sparklin is the instructor. Nancy is the Director of MAC’s summer art program “ArtStart” and has been the Musical Director and accompanist for many shows, most recently “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change!” The fee for each six-week session is $75/$90.
Young People's Theater: This program for ages 10 - 14 will meet on Thursdays from 4 to 6 p.m. The 10-week program starts September 8 and runs through November 19. Students will learn basic theater craft through the process of putting on a production of “Not So Grimm Tales,” a humorous modernization of selected Grimm’s fairy tales. The production will be Saturday, November 19 at 4 p.m. Kimberly Teves, Instructor. The fee for the 10-week session is $160/175.
Junior Show Choir: (ages 7-12) will meet on Wednesdays, 5:30 – 6:30. The 10-week session will start September 21st. This new program will offer group vocal instruction rehearsing and performing in a staged medley with emphasis on dance-type movement combined with choral singing. The Jr. Show Choir will kick off the Holiday Season with a performance on Wednesday, November 30th at 5:30pm. Vocal Instructor: Cassandra Morgan; Music Accompanist: Jamie Wiksten. Fee: $150 for MAC members/$165 for non-members.
Piano Lessons: Lessons for preschoolers are offered by appointment on Friday mornings. Jamie Wiksten, instructor. Piano lessons for beginners and intermediates are offered by appointment with Nancy Sparklin, Instructor.
