The Marion Art Center has announced its winter/spring schedule of classes for children.

Little People’s Theater

Little People’s Theater will begin on January 8 for ages five to nine.

The classes will be on Tuesdays from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Session III will run from January 8 to February 12. Session IV will run from March 3 to April 9. Each six-week session is $75/$90.

Nancy Sparklin is the instructor. Each week the children will learn basic theater craft through drama games, readers’ theater and experience the fun of the stage while rehearsing for a small production to be performed the last day of each session.

Young People’s Theater

Young People’s Theater for ages 10 to 14 will start on January 10. The class will be held on Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on January 10, 17, 24, and 31 as well as on February 7 and 28, March 7, 14, 21 and 28, April 4 and 11. There will be a performance on the 11th.

Students will learn basic theater craft through the process of putting on a production.  Kimberly Teves, instructor.  The fee for the 10-week session is $160/175.

Dance Academy

The Art Center’s Dance Academy will begin on February 25.

The Monday dance program includes classical dance instruction in ballet, tap, jazz, and basic tumbling with optional add-on classes:

• Preschool (age 3 - 4)     3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.            $140/$155
• Kinderstep (age 5)         4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.            $140/$155
• Beginner (age 6)           4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.             $140/$155
• Intermediate (age 7-8)  5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.            $140/$155
• Hip Hop  (age 6 - 8)     5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.               $140/$155                                                                                         *$90/$105

The recital is on May 10. The dress rehearsal will be at 4 p.m. and the recital will be at 6 p.m. at Sippican School. The instructor is Teah Mazzoni Johnson.
