Marion basketball programs tip-off in November
Winter is coming, and that means basketball season for the Marion Recreation Department. Check out MarionRecreation.com to register online.
Registration and Information
The Marion Recreation youth basketball registration and information night will take place at the Sippican School cafeteria Thursday, Nov. 3 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Placement Day Sippican School Gym
After players (both boys and girls) have registered, they will be drafted to teams on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
Grade four: 6 p.m.
Grade five: 6:30 p.m.
Grade six: 7 p.m.
Basketball Clinic
This basketball clinic will teach the basic skills of basketball including shooting, dribbling, passing and game play. It is open to all children in grades one through three.
The clinic will take place from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturdays, starting in January and running through March. Cost is $45.
Girls’ Basketball Program
In an attempt to get more girls involved in youth basketball, The Marion Recreation Department will be offering a “Girls Only” basketball league. This league is open to all girls in grades four through six. Cost is $85 for the December through March season.
The girls do have the option to play in the co-ed league as well if there is not enough girls registered for the "girls only" league. If they chose not to play in the co-ed league, a full refund will be given.
Co-ed Youth Basketball Program
This program is open to all boys and girls in grades four through six. This is a competitive league. Cost is $85 for the December through March season.
Boys and Girls Travel Team
The Marion Recreation Department will be offering a travel team for boys and girls in grades four through six. This is a competitive team that will travel to other communities and host games as well.
To tryout for the team you must be enrolled in the boys, girls or co-ed basketball programs. Cost will be determined for the January through March season. Tryouts will be held at a later date.
Coaches Wanted
Coaches and assistant coaches are needed for the basketball programs You do not have to have children in the program to be a coach.
