Marion Concert Band to play sea-inspired songs

The Marion Concert Band will continue a Friday evening concert series on July 12 with music inspired by the sea. Selections will include Under the Sea from The Little Mermaid, Variants on a Nautical Hymn by M. Williams, and Parade of the Tall Ships by J. Chattaway.

The Marion Concert Band opened its summer concert series on Friday, July 5 at Silvershell Beach as part of the town’s Independence Day celebrations. The band will perform at the Robert Broomhead Bandstand in Marion every Friday evening through Aug. 30.

Award-winning musician Eric Drew will serve as the guest conductor for the event. Drew performs regularly as a trumpet player with the Narragansett Bay Symphony Orchestra and the Marion Concert Band. He has taught in public schools in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and is currently the Director of Bands at Curtis Corner Middle School in South Kingstown, Rhode Island.
