Marion and Mattapoisett public safety officials and the Coast Guard responded to a reported overdose Saturday morning, May 14, onboard a 75-foot fishing boat off Cleveland Ledge in Buzzards Bay, the Marion Harbormaster’s office reported.

After receiving the call at 3:26 a.m., Coast Guard, Mattapoisett Fire, Marion Police and the Marion Harbormaster responded.

Although the sea was calm, visibility was “zero due to thick fog,’’ the harbormaster’s office reported.

Once aboard the fishing vessel,  Coast Guard and Harbormaster personnel found the victim unresponsive and immediately administered Narcan.  Shortly after, the victim regained consciousness and was monitored by the Harbormaster office’s emergency medical technician.

The EMT continued to monitor the victim while the individual was transported via Coast Guard vessel to the Coast Guard station at Woods Hole. From there, the victim was transported to Falmouth Hospital by Falmouth emergency medical personnel.
