Marion musician to be featured in New Bedford jazz festival

MARION — Marion’s own Marcus Monteiro will lead the Marcus Four at the New Bedford JazzFest in March. 

The New Bedford Winter JazzFest Online will feature three bands over three days, musician interviews, and a food and drink demonstration video from local restaurant professionals.

The performances will be free, with an option for those who would like to make a donation. The bands scheduled to perform are the Marcus Four on March 5 at 7:30 p.m., Zinno, Garzone and Barata on March 6 at 7:30 p.m., and Svetlana and the Delancey Five on March 7 at 11 a.m.

JazzFest is produced by Your Theatre, Inc., New Bedford’s 75-year old community theatre group.

Your Theatre, Inc. has partnered with the Waterfront Historic League (WHALE) to purchase, restore and convert 149 William St. (First Baptist Church) into a permanent home for the community arts center. Any net proceeds from this event will enable the next New Bedford JazzFest and assist in this partnership to preserve architecture, provide a lasting home for New Bedford’s longest-running community theatre and make available to the community a new midsized community arts center.
