Marion Natural History Museum holds forest bathing walk

Sep 11, 2020

Anyone who needs to relieve some stress is invited to a forest “bathing” experience on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 9 a.m. to noon with the Marion Natural History Museum.

Inspired by the Japanese meditation practice of Shinrin Yoku, walking mindfully in the forest  or forest bathing  encourages participants to slow down and carefully observe nature using all senses.

The practice is said to boost immune strength, reduce stress, and improve cognitive functioning, as well as offering an opportunity to connect more deeply with nature.

In case of rain, the walk will continue unless it is a genuine storm or very windy. Participants should dress appropriately. The program costs $30 per person.

Space is limited to ten adults, and pre-registration is required. The group will observe all social distancing regulations.

Certified Forest Therapy guide Nadine Mazzola, an award-winning author, will be demonstrating the benefits of spending time in nature as a wellness practice and an effective way to manage stress.

To register for this program, contact the Museum Director at Director@marionmuseum.org. Registration forms can be found on the Museum's website at www.marionmuseum.org. Partial funding for this program was provided courtesy of the Marion Cultural Council.
