Marion pre-Town Meeting to be held May 4

Apr 7, 2021

MARION — The Board of Selectmen has closed the annual town warrant and scheduled a public pre-Town Meeting for May 4 at 5 p.m.

The town warrant, which has been in the works since early September, was finalized and officially approved by the Selectmen on April 6.

“This is a huge step in us getting there,” Town Administrator Jay McGrail said, noting the warrant has taken up roughly 70% of his time over the last several months.

The Selectmen will send the warrant to the printer tomorrow, McGrail said, and the document should make it to residents’ mailboxes within three weeks. The warrant will also be posted on the Town website around the same time.

The pre-town meeting, open to the public and scheduled in place of the Selectmen’s meeting on May 4, will brief Marion residents on the items of the warrant before votes are cast the following week.

Town Meeting will take place in person at Sippican School on Monday, May 10 at 6:45 p.m. Due to COVID regulations, those wishing to attend are encouraged to make a reservation by emailing the Town Clerk’s office at lmagauran@marionma.gov or calling 508-748-3502.

Selectmen will return to their normal agenda on May 18, one week after Town Meeting.
