MARION — After ten years as Public Health Nurse Kathy Downey turned in a letter of resignation to the Board of Health on July 7.

She plans to leave about the third week of August.

Board member Edward Hoffer brought up the topic by saying that he was “very unhappy next agenda item.”

He added:

“Kathy you will be missed. You have been a real rock throughout our covid crisis, and I have been delighted with your work.”

Speaking after the meeting, Downey said that her decade in Marion has been awesome.

“I love the job. I love the people, and they have been good to me.”

She particularly enjoyed working with Marion’s young people and their parents.
