MARION — While the Marion Select Board may not look any different following the reelection of incumbent Norm Hills on Friday, May 12, the internal structure of the Select Board has changed. 

At a meeting on Tuesday, May 16, the Marion Select Board took its own vote to elect a chair, vice-chair and clerk. 

Select Board Member Toby Burr was elected to be the Board’s incoming chair following a motion by Hills. 

The chair of the Marion Select Board is charged with leading discussion and calling for votes among other duties.

Select Board Member Randy Parker, the Board’s former chair, was elected to the vice-chair position. 

Hills was elected to the position of clerk. 

“It’s going to be a few meetings where I overstep my bounds,” joked Parker after accidently acting as chair during the May 16 meeting.
