Jul 15, 2018

Marion selectmen approved several people for appointments to town boards during the select board's Tuesday, July 10, meeting held in the conference room at Marion Police Station.

Selectmen approved a new second constable to fill the spot of Paul Magee, who retired recently from that position. On the recommendation of Magee and with the approval of Marion Police Chief John Garcia, selectmen unanimously approved Herve Vandal Jr. to the position. Magee, a Mattapoisett resident, will also officially retire as chief of police in Rochester by the end of summer.

Selectmen also approved the appointment of architect landscape designer Susannah Davis to the Marion Tree and Parks Committee.

And lastly, selectmen approved Jonathan Henry and Randy Parker to the Mattapoisett River Valley Water District and Mattapoisett River Valley Water District Supply Protection Advisory Committee. Henry, a former longtime Marion selectman, is currently acting Marion Dept. of Public Works superintendent. Parker is presently a Marion selectman. Parker abstained from the vote on his appointment.
