Marion Selectmen OK engineers to review all town roads

Sep 5, 2012

Fueled by complaints from Marion residents and officials, the Selectmen agreed to enter into an agreement with engineers to review all town roads and develop a plan to complete the much-needed repairs.

On Tuesday night, the Selectmen signed off on the proposal with engineers from Camp Dresser and McKee following the recommendation of Town Administrator Paul Dawson.

“We recognize that there are many roads in town that are in disrepair,” Dawson said. “This project would have CDM work throughout the town to analyze its current state.”

Dawson said that the results of the study should help the town prioritize its needs.

“This is the first step and it’ll be a comprehensive report,” Dawson said.

Selectmen Chair Stephen Cushing agreed.

“We certainly need to get our arms wrapped around the roadways in this town,” Cushing said. “They are not self-healing.”

While the contract with CDM has not yet been finalized, Dawson said the town would not pay more than $65,400 to complete the studies by January.
