Marion solar dump is another sad day for taxpayers
May 9, 2020
To the Editor:
It looks like the town of Marion has signed up for a solar array at the old dump. On first glance, this seems like a good idea.
But it looks like the town has given away a valuable resource for nearly nothing. $125,000/year in lease payments & us carrying the liability coverage is a thin deal for the town, and a great deal for someone else.
Turning town property into a private investment is a tool that should be banned. All income from a solar dump belongs to the citizens as a whole, not select investors.
