Mary E. Conley, 84, of Mattapoisett
Mary E. (Martin) Conley, 84, eldest daughter of Mary (Mahoney) and William Martin and beloved wife of the late Herbert J. Conley, passed away on September 7, 2011 after several years of failing health at St. Luke's Hospital. Born in Mamaroneck, New York, Mary spent her childhood in Hull and Arlington, Mass., where she graduated high school and attended Regis College. After her marriage, Mrs. Conley lived in Woburn for 45 years before retiring to her summer home in Mattapoisett. With husband Herb, Mary enjoyed traveling to the Caribbean and Mexico, and continued to travel after his death with her sister and brother-in-law, taking trips to Italy and Hawaii.
Mary is survived by her loving son Jeffrey and wife Cindy, of Annapolis, Md., and devoted daughter Patty and husband Tony Cristoforo, of Duxbury. She is also survived by four grandchildren; Laura MacEwan, Dan, Julie and Brian Cristoforo, her sister Joan Sullivan and her husband Bill, of Gilbert, Ariz. and nephews Bill, Dave, Jim, Paul, and Scott Sullivan.
Mary worked for 25 years as an administrative assistant to the Dean of Students at Bentley College. Mary had been honored while at Bentley with a dedication of the yearbook from graduates, and loved her career assisting college students. She also served as secretary for the Antassawamock Association while residing in Mattapoisett. Mary loved the beach and swimming in the warm waters of Antassawamock Beach. She loved reading historical novels and mysteries, as well as tackling crossword puzzles and watching the birds from her backyard deck.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Road, Mattapoisett, Mass. Monday, September 12 at 10 a.., followed by her Funeral Mass celebrated by Msgr. Peter V. Conley in St. Anthony's Church, 22 Barstow Street, Mattapoisett at 11 a.m.. Interment at Cushing Cemetery, Mattapoisett.
