Mattapoisett bike path construction underway once again
MATTAPOISETT — After stopping construction during the coronavirus shutdown, the town’s bike path project is now underway once again.
At a July 14 Selectmen’s meeting, Town Administrator Michael Lorenco gave updates on the project's status.
At best, the path will be complete by late November or early December.
The path from Mattapoisett Neck Road to the salt marsh bridge is 99% complete. For insurance and safety concerns, there is currently no access to this section of the path.
The salt marsh bridge is currently being decked, and work will continue throughout the summer.
Reservation Road and the adjacent bike path have been paved, and the wood board fencing for this section is 95% complete.
Once the salt marsh bridge is done, Reservation Road and the bike path will be finished in anywhere from late September to early October.
Goodspeed Road is paved, the guardrail is up, the wood board fence is 99% complete, underground utilities have been relocated and adjoining properties are all connected to the path.
This portion is to be complete anywhere from late September to early October.
The West Channel bridge will be decked after the salt marsh bridge is complete. This work will be done through the fall and hopefully completed in late November.
