MATTAPOISETT — Mattapoisett Recreation’s summer camp program, the Seahorse Summer Explorers, spent a week in August learning about people who make this world a better place. The weekly theme was “Seahorse gives back.”  

The Mattapoisett Fire Department and Police Department visited the campers. The children also ran their own fundraisers for a charity of their choice.  This year, campers ran a bake sale at Shipyard Park and a lemonade stand at Mattapoisett Town Beach.

The campers raised $519.75 for Lighthouse Animal Shelter in New Bedford. 

Last year’s campers filled 30 backpacks with school supplies to donate to local children and raised over $120 for the Jimmy Fund.
